The parents of Angelica Maria Vale Hartman were comedian Raul Vale as well as Angelica Maria La Novia Mexico. In 1973, she's acknowledged as the person who launched the La Balada Ranchera (Ranchera Ballad) music genre, which reached the top of the charts, making Angelica Maria the first Latin singer to sell 2 million copies of her music in the United States.
